Nikon introduce D1X Power Kit

Nikon have announced improvements to the top of the range D1X digital SLR.
The improvements include an enlarged buffer capacity that will virtually eliminate ‘buffer stall’, where the buffer becomes full and the camera must wait a few seconds to resume taking pictures. The increased capacity allows continuous shooting up to 21 frames in JPG or TIFF format and 14 frames in NEF format.

The increased buffer capacity has, up until now, been available as a RAM upgrade to existing product, demonstrating the flexibility of digital. However, this did mean that the photographer had to send his camera into Nikon service depots in order to take advantage of the upgrade. Now all new Nikon D1x customers and existing users replacing or adding D1x bodies, will automatically gain the advantages.

The upgraded D1X , also incorporates Write Acceleration technology for use with Lexar WA Compact Flash cards, giving faster file through-put from camera processor to CF card.

It’s not just the camera body that has been improved – all new D1X bodies will be shipped with Nikon Capture 3.5 software and will be known as the D1X Power Kit. Nikon Capture software allows Nikon Electronic Files (NEF) to be interpolated to 10 megapixel giving bigger, sharper and colour rich images.

The really good news for the customer is that all of these improvements are available at the same price as the original, standard D1x - £4,349.99
