PRODUCT RECALL NOTIFICATION

Nikon Coolpix 2000 Digital Camera

A possible mechanical fault has been discovered in a small number of Coolpix 2000 digital cameras. This potential fault can result in severe overheating within the battery compartment. Whilst it is highly unlikely that this will cause injury to users of this product, the problem is sufficient to result in the melting of the outside casing, causing irreversible damage to the camera.

The product affected is the Nikon Coolpix 2000 Digital Camera within these serial number ranges:

2010001 - 2042816 2510001 - 2543248
3010001 - 3060980 3510001 - 3561916
4010001 - 4063334 4510001 - 4555696
5010001 - 5014664 5510001 - 5512592

We would like to advise all customers who own a product that is within the serial number ranges above to cease its use immediately and to remove any batteries that may have been installed. Nikon will replace all affected products that have been sold.

Nikon will make every effort to ensure that customers are inconvenienced as little as possible and will arrange to have product collected and exchanged.

Customers with products affected by this problem should call the following freephone helpline numbers to order a replacement product.

From the UK 0800 018 8977
From Republic of Ireland 1800 409 282

These numbers will be operational as from Tuesday 13 August and will be manned between 9am and 9pm daily.

Further information will be available on our website at www.nikon.co.uk.

The cause of the problem has already been identified and a remedy has been put into effect at the point of manufacture.

Coolpix 2000 cameras outside of the ranges mentioned and all other Nikon products are unaffected and may be used with complete confidence.

Nikon would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused to customers by this problem.
