This is Nikon's first 5-megapixel prosumer camera and it has been designed to satisfy the advanced amateur or enthusiast for whom total quality, performance and convenience are the deciding factors in the decision to purchase. In addition to the 5 million pixel image resolution, the Coolpix 5000 boasts a 3 x , 28-85mm (35mm equivalent) Nikkor zoom lens which incorporates three aspherical lens elements, ensuring high resolution, distortion-free pictures. This latest Coolpix offers incredibly fast speeds in startup, autofocus and zoom operation, with a shutter delay short enough to rival SLR digital competitors.
