D100 digital SLR
Price £TBC, but expected to be around ½ the cost of a D1 series camera Availability: Summer 2002 The D100 has all the heritage of the D1 series in a lighter, more compact body. Although it shares the ergonomics of the F80, it is a totally new body and chassis design.
The D100’s target users include dedicated amateurs, business users and professionals who need an approachable digital SLR camera offering the image quality and performance they demand.
This latest Nikon digital SLR strengthens Nikon’s digital range at the key mid-price point position. It’s compatible with the range of more than 40 AF Nikkor lenses as well as numerous speedlights and other accessories.
Jeremy Gilbert, Nikon UK’s Group Marketing Manager comments: “With the launch of the D1X and D1H, we acknowledged that different sectors in the market demand different products. The D1X targets photographers who demand the ultimate quality from a digital body, whereas the D1H was developed for the news and sports market where speed of capture and transfer are the most important attributes. “However, there was still a requirement to extend the range further to offer a high performance digital SLR camera to a wider photographic market place, at an affordable price. The D100 is that camera.”
