Nikon Launch 80mm Spotting Scope
Nikon have announced a new addition to their spotting scope range.
As with the existing Spotting Scope 60 RAII, the new Spotting Scope 80 will be available in two versions - straight and angled.
The Spotting Scope 80 offers superb value for money because, by incorporating optical technology proven in the popular Spotting Scope RAII, Nikon have succeeded in combining high quality optics at low production costs.
The large 80mm objective lens with multi-layer coatings provides the brightest field of view and has O-rings seals for water-resistance. The scope comes with a waterproof stay-on case, giving extra protection to the rubber-armoured body. The lens is protected by a built-in, sliding hood with an attached lens cover.
These features make this an ideal scope, not only for bird watching but also for general observation, such as archery or shooting.
The eyepieces for the current Spotting Scope 60 RAII are compatible with the new scope. However, when used with the Spotting Scope 80, the magnification increases 1.33 times. Therefore the 20x eyepiece becomes a 27x, the 25x wide becomes 33x wide and the 15-45x Zoom becomes a 20-60x Zoom.
The Spotting Scope 80 is available now at the recommended retail price of £299 for both straight and angled versions. The price includes the stay-on case. The eyepieces are £49.99 for the 27x, £74.99 for the 33x wide and £129.99 for the 20-60x zoom.
As with all Nikon binocular products, the Spotting Scope 80 is covered by a 10 year warranty.
